1972 was a special year for Corvettes, as the last year with steel bumpers which were phazed out starting the year after, Also, the 454 cu. in. "big block" motor was rated at 270 hp. This may seem like a big reduction over the 1971 rating of 365 hp, but there is an explanation. Standards for measuring horsepower came into effect in 1972 and they better reflected real world conditions. Inclusion of air cleaners, accessories, stock exhaust systems along with measurement standards brought some sanity and consistency to the process.   As a side note, it was not available for California residents even though it was listed in the order sheet.

This particular example came from the factory with the optional 454 engine mated with the four speed transmission.  Other options include, deluxe Saddle leather interior, tilt and telescoping steering column, power steering, power brakes, air conditioning.  Rear end is 3.36.

Vette has sustained a thorough restoration process in which all major components were taken care of.
Engine was rebuilt completely and has only 5K miles since.  Undercarriage looks very sharp and detailed, frame is very clean, so is the birdcage.   Suspension was reconditioned two years ago, also recent front wheel alignment.   Has new Firestone Ovals tires and new exhaust.  Chrome, weatherstripping, all in good good condition.

Body is in excellent condition, body panels are original and in 2010 a complete high dollar paint job was applied.  Interior is correct and in very good condition.   Radio is original and was recently rebuilt.

All in working condition, vacuum operates as it should, according to the seller, "car handles exceptionally". 

All in all, the attention to detail and the outstanding condition, recommend this car as a great collectable where you do not have to anything, just to drive to shows and admired it in the garage.
