The 1965 model debuted with the first ever Big Block Corvette, the "Turbo Jet" 396 CI rated conservatively at 425 HP. It was a great start and with the RPO L78 cost of $292.70, 2157 cars received this option, roughly 9% of the production. Today, the Big Block Convertible of that vintage are coveted by collectors and enthusiasts alike and their values are constantly going up.
