Vehicle Description:
THE VETTE NET is a nationwide Corvette brokerage network and proud Lifetime Business Member of the National Corvette Museum. Thanks for stopping by. We are pleased to present this beautiful 1978 Anniversary Edition Corvette for your inspection.
Nineteen hundred seventy eight marked the twenty-fifth anniversary of the Corvette. The fastback roofline was introduced that year giving the Vette a new look and an increased storage capacity.
The Silver Anniversary paint option is a two-tone silver/gray with pinstriping. When you checked that option, you also got the dual sport mirrors and aluminum wheels. The trim tag on this Corvette shows the correct “anniversary” paint codes. The interior appears original and is the code-correct Mahogany Leather (762).
Under the hood you will find the L-82 engine option. A quick check of the VIN validates this Corvette was ordered with the 220 horsepower engine. It is mated to a Turbo-Hydramatic automatic transmission.
Options on this Corvette include: L-82 engine. MX1 Turbo-Hydramatic transmission. B2Z silver anniversary paint. D35 dual sport mirrors. YJ8 aluminum wheels. C49 rear window defogger. C60 air conditioning. N37 tilt/telescopic steering wheel. U75 power antenna. AU3 power door locks. ZX2 convenience group. Power windows, power steering, and power brakes complete the list and were standard. A Panasonic aftermarket stereo with cassette has replaced the original radio.
This is a two-owner Corvette and the current owner purchased the Vette in 2004. The odometer shows 49,540 miles (when photographed). While he cannot document the mileage, the seller believes it is correct based on his conversation with the original owner.
When you inspect this Corvette, you will see the chassis was undercoated. You will also notice the paint and engine bay need considerable detailing and some reconditioning. The owner states the headlights work properly as do the windshield wipers. The air conditioning needs to be recharged and the owner has a supply of refrigerant.
If you are looking for a 1978 Silver Anniversary Corvette that could be considered a driver/project, here it is. Drive it and enjoy it while you gradually make improvements. How cool is that!

FEDERAL EMISSIONS REGULATIONS VEHICLE COMPLIANCE: Beginning in 1975, the Federal Government mandated that all new vehicles must meet specific emissions regulations. Auto manufacturers complied with these regulations starting in 1975 by installing various emissions control devices on every new vehicle produced including Corvettes. These emissions regulations apply to all Corvette models from 1975 up to this present year. TheVetteNet.com cannot guarantee any vehicle 1975 or newer, which we have listed for sale, will have all of its factory original emission components installed or that it will pass the emissions inspection in your state. As the buyer, it is your responsibility to keep your Corvette in compliance with the emissions regulations mandated by your particular state and county. Please check with your local Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) for additional information.
