Vehicle Description:

THE VETTE NET is a professional Corvette brokerage network and proud Lifetime Business Member of the National Corvette Museum. We are pleased to present this truly exceptional, one-family-owned 1968 Corvette Convertible, beautifully finished in timeless LeMans Blue and powered by its factory-rated 327/350 HP L79 mated to a crisp 4-speed manual gearbox.

Some Corvettes are bought and sold. This one has been kept.

For its entire life, this 1968 Shark remained in the care of a single family. When the time came to give it the treatment it rightfully earned, they took no shortcuts. Over a meticulous six-year, comprehensive frame-off restoration—thoroughly photographed at every milestone—they preserved the soul of this classic while executing mechanical and cosmetic perfection throughout.

Restoration & Mechanicals (check out gallery for over 70 pics)

  • Chassis & Suspension: Stripped down to bare fiberglass with every original body panel intact. The chassis was disassembled down to the bare perimeter frame, inspected, and professionally powder-coated. The front and rear suspension were rebuilt with new bushings, ball joints, and wheel bearings throughout.
  • Powertrain: The numbers-matching 327 ci / 350 HP L79 small-block V8 was completely rebuilt to factory spec, delivering the high-revving muscle and distinct soundtrack that made the L79 legendary. The original 4-speed manual was fully inspected, refreshed, and resealed. Power meets the pavement through a stout 3.70 rear gear—the sweet spot between off-the-line launch and backroad carving.
  • Modern Comfort & Cruisability: Mindfully upgraded with modern power steering, power disc brakes, and integrated Vintage Air conditioning, making it just as effortless and comfortable on a 90-degree July afternoon as it is on an October morning cruise.
  • Rolling Stock & Weather Gear: Rides on BF Goodrich redline radials sourced from Coker Tire, perfectly capturing the original late-sixties stance. Complete with both tops—a clean soft top and the factory hardtop—giving you full open-air motoring or the quiet, clean roofline of a coupe.
  • Current Condition: Driven only ~1,500 miles since completion. Fully sorted, shaken down, and still show-floor fresh.

Documentation & Provenance

Preservation extends beyond the metal and fiberglass. The car retains its original steering wheel in fine condition, along with an exhaustive paper trail:

  • Full binders of restoration receipts, part invoices, and service records.
  • Digital archive on a dedicated thumb drive documenting the complete frame-off build and engine rebuild step-by-step.

1968 marked the dawn of the third generation—the bold arrival of Larry Shinoda’s Mako Shark silhouette. A documented, single-family-owned LeMans Blue L79 4-speed convertible with this level of provenance and fresh frame-off execution is an opportunity that rarely presents itself twice.
