The 1970 model year has a unique history being one of the shortest production runs for the Vette, due to an infamous GM strike at the time. Only 17316 came from the assembly line in St. Louis, MO compared to 38762 models the year before. The low numbers combined with a few refinements makes it similarly desirable to the 1969 model from the standpoint of collectibility.
Our offer today is a beautiful Cortez Silver T-top Coupe in great mechanical and cosmetic condition. Power comes from a GM 350 High HP small block "4-bolt main" engine likely from a 69-70 Camaro according to the HA suffix from the block deck. Engine was rebuilt recently and has new seals, gaskets, timing cover and base. New water pump, new alternator, new fuel tank, new radiator, new 600 CFM Holley Carburetor, Edelbrock Street Performer intake. Distributor is still the original in perfect working order. Clutch is new, throw bearing is new as well, transmission just rebuilt less than 500 miles ago. Has all new suspension, brakes, tires installed by the actual owner. No power steering, no power brakes, no AC! Car exhibits adequate power likely in the 300-350 HP range, drives perfect and all mechanical devices are in working order.
Interior has new seat covers and carpet, door panels being original. All gauges and instruments are in working order, with the exception of the clock. Paint is the correct Cortez Silver, in very good condition showing just a few imperfection here and there, but overall very presentable. Chrome is original also, but the rear passenger bumper shows signs of aging as seen in pic. Has LT1-style hood and luggage rack adding a mild custom look.
All in all, this is a very nice example of a beautiful early "Bumper car", a driver-plus quality giving you lots of driving pleasure, also making you proud to display at car shows.
