This is a stunning and matching numbers example of the True Classic “57” Vette. Number 1501. It has been maintained with originality as a prime concern.  The Motor is the 283/270 dual quad, solid lifter Motor (F1219EG). It runs smooth and quiet, no leaks, drips and burns no oil. The odometer indicates 94,093 miles and this is believed to be original. It has been and is maintained to very high standards.  The interior of the car is nearly flawless. The seats, carpet and dash show no wear, carpets being only 2 years old.  The car is not a “trailer Queen” but is a superb driver. The owner does drive and show the car.  It is in excellent condition. There are very few and very minor paint flaws as any driver would have, otherwise it is almost show quality. The chrome does show some fade but has no pits, rust or deterioration. The car is always garaged and covered and there is no rust or corrosion. The door pillars were restored to original condition.  The soft top is white and in excellent condition. There is also a hard top with the car which needs restoration. It is in solid condition.

Here are some significant numbers and facts:

  • VIN is E57S101501 = car #1501/6339, built Dec 1956
  • Engine code F1219EG.  EG suffix signifies 283/270HP with manual
  • Block casting 3731548 - all 57s had it
  • Heads ID numbers - 3740997, correct for 283 engines with 220, 245, 250, 270 HP applications
  • Intake ID number 3739653
  • Distributor ID 1110891, correct for 270 HP application
  • Wonderbar radio,
Transmission is correct, but not original to the car, apparently from a 1955 Corvette.  Rear end is not original (Corvette model, though) and is a 4.11 positraction.

Present owner had it since 1999 and lots of work and maintenance was done since, as follows: gas tank was cleaned and coated professionally, carburetors were rebuilt with new correct gas lines and filters.  Has new brake lines, cylinders and two drums, rebuilt transmission including clutch and all related parts including resurfaced flywheel.  Has new White convertible soft top, new windshield and channels.  All new speedo glass, chrome convertible latches, air cleaner, new white wall tires, wiper blades, seat belts, king pins, control arms and bushings, outer tie rod ends, front shocks, stabilizer bars, links and idler arms bearings. Newly cored radiator and new water pump with pulley, rear main seal, crankshaft, adjusted solid lifters, new heat diverter under dash with new cable and switch, new exhaust hangers (2009).   New carpet was installed two years ago.  Previous owner had it for 15 years, no prior history to 1984 is known.
