The 1969 model Corvette became one of the most desirable Stingrays, even though was not the first one of the third generations of Corvettes later dubbed the C3. After the hastily introduced 68 model, the 69 came from behind with a lot of refinements which made it instantly popular and later a desirable collectible.
The model we are offering today is a great value for several reasons:
- equipped with the 427/390 engine, matching numbers, suffix LM signifying the correct power train (427/390, manual) and VIN being stamped on the engine pad as seen in pics
- desirable manual transmission
- functional factory equipped AC
- side pipes
- it was with the same owner in the last 20 years being driven about 2500 miles since
It appears that car sustained an older restoration, originally being Fathom Green (according to trim tag), now sporting a more desirable Red. Paint shows moderate signs of aging, also a few imperfections are present on the body. It is likely that the miles are original, per seller's description and previous title and bill of sale. Interior is the factory deluxe with the original leather seats and door panels. A lot of maintenance was performed on the car, including some done lately: newer top, tires, battery, stainless steel brakes, hoses, vacuum lines including headlamps and wiper door, new aluminum radiator, new AC compressor, new expansion valve, drier, waterpump, HEI distributor and many more little things.
Mechanically, all is in functioning order, engine is strong, exhibits lots of power, starts right away and do not smoke. Gauges work, vacuum works, AC blows cold...
Cosmetically, the paint shows its age, but is still in good integrity and very shiny, There are a few chips and swirls to be documented in pictures. Chrome is also in good condition, some pitting being present on the side-pipes covers. Undercarriage is clean with no signs of abuse.
All in all, this 1969 427/390 Convertible recommends itself as a decent #2 quality collectable ready to be enjoyed as it stands now, also waiting to be upgraded as time permits later. Bottom line, the BB 69s are on the way up, per Hagerty's Price Guide as seen here, so this is your chance to secure what is probably one of the best values for a matching numbers 69 BB Convertible.
